My Approach to Therapy

I practice therapy from a feminist and person-centered framework. This means that I see my client as the expert on themselves, and I seek to help them find empowerment and personal autonomy in their lives. I believe that we cannot understand the person without first examining the systems of oppression that impact them. It is my hope that my clients and I are on equal footing, and that we work together as equals to make progress toward their goals. My greatest joy as a therapist is to see clients connecting with their truest, most genuine selves. In this goal, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, including feminist interventions such as radical self-acceptance and self-care, consciousness-raising and social justice, and interventions from evidence-based practices such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Experience and Interests

As I am trained in generalist practice, I have experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have worked with clients of many varying identities and backgrounds, and I strive to always celebrate and be sensitive to the unique cultural factors of every person in front of me. My particular clinical interests include queer and trans affirming care, women’s health, body image and eating concerns, emerging adulthood, and more!
