Counseling & Case Management Approach:
I approach both counseling and case management as a collaborative process in which individuals can feel safe to articulate and develop their goals. My aim is to support and empower students in accessing internal and external resources to meet those goals. I use a strengths-based approach and enjoy helping individuals learn to navigate challenging and complex systems such as insurance and behavioral health resources.
Multicultural interests
I view cultural competence as vital to the work that I do, particularly as I provide case management services since individuals’ access to and experiences within the overall healthcare system can greatly differ depending on their backgrounds, socioeconomic status, and identities. Striving to understand what this looks and feels like for various students and being willing to advocate for them as needed is an important part of my job. I particularly enjoy supporting students of color and those who identify as LGBTQ+.
Outreach interests
I enjoy sharing about mindfulness, grounding techniques, and issues related to general wellbeing, such as sleep hygiene, nutrition, and fitness. I’m also excited to share knowledge around healthcare literacy – helping students find, understand, and use information and services to obtain and maintain good health.
