Yes, we have an in-house mini food pantry for our clients and staff in need! Clients are able to utilize the mini food pantry when they’re at UCS for appointments, and are encouraged to use the main IMU food pantry at other times.

Eating Disorder Services Coordinator

The Eating Disorder Network (EDN) is a collaborative group of health professionals from across the University of Iowa campus that have come together to offer services for the treatment and prevention of eating disorders and disordered eating.  This multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, dietitians, and fitness consultants and was formed in response to the growing number of UI students who were struggling with eating disorder concerns.

Are you concerned with your eating?

It is important to realize that you are not alone in your struggle. Studies have shown that as many as 10 million females and 1 million males are struggling with serious eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. Another 25 million suffer from binge eating disorder. 

As you begin to address your eating concerns, keep in mind that you are a special and unique individual! Regardless of the numbers on the scale or the size and shape of your body, you have qualities about you that nobody else has. With assistance you can stop being consumed with thoughts of food and weight.  There are people who care and can help you overcome your eating concerns.

EDN Services

Physician Consultations and Evaluation

Student Health provides concurrent Physician and Psychiatric Evaluation for students with eating disorder concerns. The appointments are free for enrolled students during academic semesters. Students will need to use their insurance for labs or appointments during breaks. 

When scheduling, please let the support staff know that the appointment is for eating related concerns.

Nutrition Consultation

Student Wellness provides free nutrition consultations. You may schedule via phone or online.

Mental Health Counseling

University Counseling Service provides brief individual therapy and Myself and My Body Therapy group for students with eating concerns. We also offer case management/referral support appointments to help students find higher level of care for eating disorder concerns, including long-term individual therapy. All UCS services are free and confidential.

Fitness Consultation

Student Wellness provides free fitness consultations to help you better connect with your body. You may schedule via phone or online.

We can help you find higher level of care for eating concerns, such as long-term individual counseling, Intensive Outpatient Care, Partial Hospitalization, Residential Treatment, and more.
