Barbara Canin
As a therapist, I am committed to creating a space of welcome, safety, and non-judgement for students seekng support. Having taught high school English for many years and raised three daughters to adulthood, I have several decades of experience working with adolescents and young adults. My approach to therapy is eclectic, but consistently client-centered and collaborative, drawing on ideas and strategies from person-centered therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems work (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). With real admiration for the courage and resourcefulness it takes to walk into a therapy room for the first time, I feel honored to support students as they explore who and how they want to be in the world – finding their authentic voices, building on their inner strengths, and creating the kinds of changes that will bring them greater fulfillment, joy, and ease.
