Yaran Zhang, MA

Counseling Psychology Practicum Student
Biography

Introduction

I am a practicum trainee at UCS and a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology. My therapeutic orientation centers upon existential, psychodynamic, and interpersonal-processing approaches. I view each person as meaning-maker and believe that change occurs through the experiential process of creating new relational patterns that differ from past interpersonal dynamics. I strive to provide therapy that is genuine and collaborative, emphasizing our innate agency, therapist and client congruence, and an openness to exploring power dynamics both within and outside the therapy room. My clinical and research interests focus on group processes, spirituality, and forgiveness.
