Clinical/Counseling Interests
“It is a joy to be hidden, and disaster not to be found.”
― D.W. Winnicott
I primarily approach counseling from a psychodynamic-integrative approach with emphasis on interpersonal and systemic dynamics. I believe that humans are primarily motivated by the need to form relationships; and that a solid therapeutic relationship serves as a key element for healing, new experiences, and self-growth. I seek to create a safe space in my work for clients to feel seen as who they are, open in exploring their vulnerability, and be empowered in discovering and fostering their strengths. Collaboratively, I work to help clients uncover obstacles that may contribute to any present difficulties and adjust them in ways that make clients feel better about themselves and others.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Florida and, prior to joining the UCS, have worked in community mental health, medical, forensic, and university settings. I served underprivileged children and families, as well as adults with chronic illness and various mental health concerns from diverse backgrounds. My clinical interests include relational issues, grief/bereavement, spiritual and existential issues, adjustment and acculturation concerns, depression, anxiety, identity development, and personality disorders.
Multicultural Interests
As a biracial individual with diverse lived experiences, I am fascinated by the processes through which one develops self and cultural identity in attachment relationships. Specifically, I am interested in exploring how aspects of identity play into therapeutic relationships and impact clinical work. As a woman of color and international student, I endeavor to advocate for multicultural and social justice issues. I particularly encourage those with marginalized and intersectional identities to voice themselves and find strength through processing their identity-related trauma.
