Biography

As the Social Media Coordinator, my goal is to develop engaging and supportive content that raises awareness about mental health, shares valuable resources, and promotes tools for academic success and overall wellness within our campus community.

Counseling Approach:

I view counseling and the counseling relationship as a space where clients and therapists work together as a team, assisting the client in working towards their outlined goals. I believe that progress is possible when trust, safety, and readiness for change are in place. I pull from concepts informed by cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, while also including interventions and approaches from other theoretical backgrounds. My overall goal is to collaboratively inform and create a personalized approach to fit each client in a tailored way. I believe that everyone presents with their own unique needs and enjoy working with students at a variety of levels whether it be individual/group counseling, or out and about at campus events and outreach opportunities.

Multicultural interests:

Personally, and professionally, I strive to practice and hold space for cultural humility. Having prior experience working at a university counseling center at another institution, I have seen firsthand, the positive impact of removing barriers and increasing access to informed, quality resources and services.  I am committed to serving as an active ally and advocate of all backgrounds, identities, ethnicities, abilities, and their intersectionality on this campus and beyond.

Outreach interests:

I enjoy a variety of outreach topics and modalities. Specifically, I enjoy increasing awareness of mental health and available mental health services in hopes of reducing the stigma and increasing connections to care. Additionally, I enjoy sharing about coping skills, stress management, relaxation techniques, and promoting general health and wellness. I think outreach opportunities are important, not only for sharing information, but also mobilizing mental health and wellness efforts and meeting the campus community in their everyday spaces.
