Biography

Clinical/counseling interests

I believe clients are the experts in their life and I am available as a resource to help them achieve their desires and goals. I use an approach that is strengths based and solution focused. I provide clients the opportunity to process their experiences and provide them tools to help them outside of therapy session; I believe clients get out of therapy what they put into it, and it takes intentional work to build new skills. I believe past experiences can shape people to who they are presently. I work collaboratively with clients to identify a negative core belief (i.e. I’m not good enough, I’m inadequate, I’m powerless, I’m hopeless, I’m not safe, etc.) that may be effecting them presently and work to reframe these negative beliefs by processing past experiences and exploring present and future experiences.

My clinical areas of interest include anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, leadership, communication, relationships, and adjustments/transitions. I am a trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is effective for traumatic experiences, anxiety, phobias, and addictions.

Multicultural interests

Equity, social justice, and advocacy are important aspects to me personally and professionally. I believe everyone has unique experiences and it’s important to be aware and acknowledge differences through conversations and learning from one another. I work to create an environment that is inclusive and fosters a sense of belonging. I am open to learning and seek opportunities to grow my knowledge and experiences related to other’s culture and the barriers these cultures experience.

Outreach interests

I enjoy connecting with students and faculty through delivery of skills and educational programming. I think of outreach as an emotional & mental health wellness and prevention approach. I am available to present on topics of anxiety, depression, stress management, self-care, motivation, time management, communication, leadership, team building and other topics upon request.

Professional affiliations

I am a member of National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
