Clinical/Counseling interests

Much of my clinical worked has focused on working with college students as they navigate college life. I work with a wide rage of clinical interests such as anxiety, depression, OCD, adjustment to college, group therapy and sports psychology. As a therapist I work from a person-centered approach while also incorporating CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) into my work. I believe everyone has a unique story and background that can potentially impact therapy and building a working relationship with a therapist.

Multicultural interests

In taking a person-centered approach I work to understand how a client’s individual identities have impacted them throughout their life as well as understand their experiences with an identity. I acknowledge my own identities grant me privilege and I am committed to use that privilege as an advocate for social justice in my work and in the University of Iowa community. Additionally, I think multicultural competence is a goal that needs to be worked toward every day. I strive to provide a healthy environment for clients of all identities and different cultural backgrounds.
