Description: Soothe Your Anxiety is for UI students who are looking to better understand anxiety and develop some quick tools to cope with the symptoms they may experience. Each half-hour workshop will feature information about anxiety and an easy to learn coping skill. Whether you have experienced anxiety for a long time or are experiencing it for the first time in response to current events, this workshop can help. The workshop features 5 different topics over the course of 5 weeks, designed to give students a quick option to learn anxiety management skills – attend them all or pick and choose.

Wednesday, January 27th: Being Mindful of Your Thoughts
We will focus on identifying automatic thoughts and using mindfulness as a tool to manage them.

Wednesday, February 3rd: Challenging Anxious Thoughts
We will focus on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and how to challenge anxious thoughts.

Wednesday, February 10th: What Am I Feeling—Stress or Anxiety?
We will focus on the differences between stress and anxiety and how to use journaling to explore and process those feelings.

Wednesday, February 17th: Fight, Flight, Freeze—Breathe!
We will focus on learning more about how the fight, flight, and freeze response connects to anxiety and using breathing to counteract that response.

Wednesday, February 24th: Making Sense of Anxiety
We will focus on how to better understand your anxiety symptoms during specific situations by identifying them as thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and physical sensations.

Wednesday, March 3rd: Being Mindful of Your Thoughts
We will focus on identifying automatic thoughts and using mindfulness as a tool to manage them.

Wednesday, March 10th: Challenging Anxious Thoughts
We will focus on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and how to challenge anxious thoughts.
