The Energy Hub
with Tianyi Xie
Description: The Energy Hub is for UI students who are experiencing difficulties adjusting to a pandemic, or would like help to improve their daily functioning. Each 30-minute workshop features one of the following topics: sleep, time management, procrastination, and motivation. Programs are not sequenced. Students can attend all sessions or drop in for as many as they would like.

Sleep 1 – Sleep Hygiene (Aug 26th, Sept 30th, Nov 4th)
Poor sleep can impact one’s mental and physical well-being. We’ll discuss the basic knowledge about sleep (e.g., sleep stages, sleep drive, circadian rhythm) and practice sleep hygiene to improve your sleep quality.
Sleep 2 - Managing Sleep Anxiety (Sept 2nd, Oct 7th, Nov 11th)
Feeling particularly anxious before bed about insomnia? Come and learn strategies to reframe your anxious thoughts and manage stress before bed.
Time Management (Sept 9th, Oct 14th, Nov 18th)
It’s hard to complete tasks or stay organized when you don’t have a structure for your life. Let’s talk about how to develop and implement daily or weekly schedules and set achievable goals.
Procrastination (Sept 16th, Oct 21st, Dec 2nd)
Do you often mindlessly spend hours watching videos or scrolling through social media before an important deadline? Let’s dive into the psychology behind the procrastination cycle and learn strategies to reduce it.
Motivation (Sept 23rd, Oct 28th, Dec 9th)
Feeling lost and unmotivated to do things that “should” be important for you? Come and explore the underlying values of your goals and find ways to rebuild your motivation.
“Anxiety Toolbox” is a three week skills-based workshop designed to help students learn to better manage their anxiety by utilizing a variety of CBT tools and strategies. This is a curriculum-driven series with structure and specific learning objectives and topics for each week that build students' knowledge over the course of the workshop. All participants will receive a workbook with exercises to be completed both within and outside the group to facilitate their learning.

Getting Unstuck Workshop
“Getting Unstuck” is a three-week, skills-based clinical workshop designed to provide support and skills aimed at addressing students who would like to learn ways be better manage their depression symptoms. This is a curriculum-driven series with structure and specific learning objectives and topics for each week that build students' knowledge over the course of the workshop. All participants will receive a workbook with exercises to be completed both within and outside the group to facilitate their learning.
