Clinical/counseling interests

I approach counseling using interpersonal and cognitive behavioral therapies with an overarching feminist perspective. My goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment and a collaborative working relationship in order to empower clients to achieve their goals in counseling. Together we work to find new, more effective ways to cope and manage the presenting issue(s). My clinical interests include diversity issues, eating disorders, women’s issues, identity concerns, depression and anxiety disorders, and individual and group therapies.

Multicultural interests

I am personally and professionally dedicated to social justice and equality for all persons. Specifically, I work to raise awareness and advocate for marginalized groups through my clinical practice and outreach initiatives. I have a strong interest in issues related to racial/ethnic identities especially American Indian populations, LGBT identities and "coming out" processes, and concerns typically faced by women such as body image and eating disorders.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association including Division 17 – Society of Counseling Psychology, Division 35 – Society of the Psychology of Women: Section 6 - Alaska Native/American Indian/Indigenous Women, and Division 45 – Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues.
