Clinical Philosophy:
As a therapist I prioritize the client-therapist relationship as the foundation for a successful therapy outcome. In my work, I attend to family and life history as a context for understanding current student issues and concerns. I enjoy helping students develop tools to address or to improve specific problem areas. I am especially sensitive to the developmental challenges that college students face. I am personally enriched by my opportunity to work with a college student population.

Clinic Interests:
I enjoy working with a broad range of student concerns. Some of my specific interest areas include: performance anxiety management for test-taking, public speaking, music and stage or theater work, improvement of academic skills, and career choice exploration. I very much enjoy working toward resolution of family life conflicts, peer relationship problems, and healing from past relationship pain. Life transition issues and grief and loss concerns are important to me. I am also happy to help students address and better manage difficulties with general anxiety and with depression.

Multicultural Interests:
I am open to and encouraging to all students who come to the UCS. After personal positive experiences overseas, I am sensitive to culture shock and re-entry adaptation as I work with international students. In the area of ability/disability, I conduct a therapy group for students with Asperger’s Disorder. I am especially interested in addressing religious and/or spiritual concerns for students from a broad range of religious traditions. I am comfortable addressing the grief and loss associated with death. As a specialty area, I offer therapy from a Christian perspective upon student request.

Outreach Interests:
As the UCS Assistant Director for Outreach, I am happy to develop a presentation for your particular group addressing a broad range of psychological issues. Some of my outreach interests include: academic skills improvement, test-taking and public speaking anxiety management, stress management, relationship concerns, general mental health guidelines, adjustment to UI, transition issues, and communication skills. I also work as an individual and organizational consultant.

Professional Affiliation:
Member and steering committee member of the Association for University and College Counseling Center Outreach (AUCCCO)
