I approach counseling from a strengths-based perspective, working with clients to identify and build upon productive coping strategies. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration through which both the client and therapist can share knowledge and expertise to help the client meet their goals. My focus is to create a comfortable, relaxed, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe exploring their concerns. My clinical interests include issues of grief and loss, processing trauma, addressing adjustment difficulties, and coping with anxiety.
I believe promoting social justice is crucial to addressing the systemic inequities and experiences of oppression that clients may encounter. I strive to continue to grow in my awareness of my own privileges, and to be conscious of how my identities might impact the work I do with clients. I am particularly interested in the intersectional identities of race, class, and gender, as well as creating a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ identified clients.
